Bogota, April 4, 2022 – Two months after the National Civil Registry announced the cancellation of 43,000 documents of Colombian-Venezuelan citizens, due to an investigation where they found alleged irregularities in the documents issued, the situation of thousands of people has not yet been resolved.
With this measure, the Colombian-Venezuelan citizens are seeing their rights violated, as they are losing their jobs, access to health and education, some have been detained, they are afraid to leave and their lives are being totally affected by this situation.
As a result of this, the TAAP Foundation is committed to help people to solve their status in the country soon and the figures are represented as follows; to date we have advised 8,300 people of which 301 already have their document active again, 32 obtained a negative response from the entity and about 1,200 are still waiting for the response from the Registrar.
Due to the concern of the people due to the lack of commitment of the Registrar’s Office to resolve their cases within the legal framework, next Monday April 4 from 3:00 pm to 7: 00 pm at Calle 80 #72 B – 56, Justice and Praise room located in the city of Bogota, we will hold a day of free attention and accompaniment with the support of the group of lawyers of the Probono Foundation and the Corporation Organization El Minuto de Dios, to help solve the doubts of the Colombian-Venezuelan population who had their citizenship cards cancelled.
We hope that all the people who do not know what process they have to follow to resolve their case or have questions about it can attend.
